What is the conference about?

The “Rise Above” inaugural conference  is a one-day conference and public launch of the West Texas Trauma Informed Consortium (WTTICC) a hub for trauma- and grief-informed care in the western region of Texas that disseminates best practice knowledge and skills, training, consultation, technical assistance, and opportunities for professional and systems collaboration.  This conference is for anyone who is looking to improve their knowledge, skills and competence in trauma-informed practices. Specifically: 

      • Behavioral health care professionals and staff: social workers, counselors, case managers peer support and recovery specialists, outreach specialists, prevention and intervention specialists
      • Health care professionals and staff
      • Public health care professionals and staff
      • Educators: teachers, school administrators, guidance counselors, community in schools specialists
      • Professional caregivers, foster parents, hospice and grief specialists, chaplains

What topics will be covered?

  • Cultivating resilience: theory, practice and vision
  • Foundations of Trauma Informed Care: safety, connection and skills for self-regulation
  • Trauma-informed Practices for healing and well-being
  • Integrated and complementary trauma-informed practices
  • Community Trauma and Grief: from crisis response to coordinated recovery
  • Compassion resilience: addressing secondary trauma, burnout and compassion fatigue
  • West Texas Borderland vision for a coordinated, trauma- and resilient-oriented consortium of care

Up to 6.5 hours of continuing education units granted for Social Work or Professional Counselors.

Two Keynote Addresses

Addresses from regional and national leaders in the policy and practice of trauma and grief-informed care. 

Plenary Sessions

Sessions from diverse experts who seek to improve the development and aplication of trauma informed practices in their various work and community-based settings.

Panel Discussions

Panel sessions with audience participation focused on applied trauma informed care practices. 

Exhibitor take home items, lunch,  and light hospitality will also be provided.
